6 June 1944

Tomorrow is the anniversary of D-Day, so I am posting some photos of my Mom and Dad in their honour. (photographer unknown)

Mom and Dad met in England during the World War II and got married before returning to Canada.

Dad’s unit published periodicals while in Europe; I have two of these. The photos I took above are, a front cover and an excerpt of the periodical, of 5008 “C” M.S.U. movements starting “at 1200 hours one evening in June, 1944 the landing barge lowered its ramp and the vehicles of 5008 “C” M.S.U., … rolled ashore onto the coast of Normandy to take up their allotted place in the invasion scheme … of 2nd Tactical Air Force…” (read full text above).

Photo of Dad in Belgium and two photos of Dad back home in Toronto.

Hoping we will all remember what our Veteran’s past and present have done for us and this country.

Take care, and stay strong Canada.
